RTL Group Appoints Gerhard Zeiler as new C.E.O
Luxembourg, 5 March 2003 – RTL Group today announced the appointment of Gerhard Zeiler as its new Chief Executive following the departure of Didier Bellens last week.
Mr Zeiler will assume his new responsibilities immediately, and will also continue in his current role as Chief Executive of RTL Television, which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of RTL Group.
The Group Chairman, Juan Abello, said today: “We are delighted that Gerhard Zeiler has agreed to take this role, because he brings a wealth of experience in the broadcasting industry as well as considerable international knowledge.
“However, we also take this opportunity of acknowledging the enormous contribution of Didier Bellens in building such a successful business over the last three years.”
Gerhard Zeiler said: “Heading the only really pan-European audiovisual Group is a tremendous challenge. RTL Group has a wide range of assets in several businesses across a number of territories, which has helped it weather the current economic problems better than most of its peers. My task will be to secure and expand upon RTL Group’s success and ensure that RTL Group takes its place at the forefront of the industry."
