Didier Bellens Named New President of Association of Commercial TV (ACT)
Brussels/ Luxembourg, 23 May. – Didier Bellens, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of RTL Group, has been appointed new President of the Association of Commercial Television (ACT), representing commercial broadcasters around Europe. At the ACT’s Annual General Meeting in Brussels, CEOs from member broadcasters unanimously elected the CEO of Europe’s leading broadcaster and content provider.
On accepting the role, Mr Bellens thanked his colleagues for placing their confidence in him, and said that he looked forward to chairing the Association “at a time when the global media industry is undergoing fundamental changes and is facing huge challenges, on a business, technological as well as on a regulatory level. We are convinced that commercial television has a great future, and we are willing to foster the development of a free, transparent and competitive television environment across Europe."
The retiring President, Jan Mojto, has chaired the Association since 1994 while holding a number of Board level roles in KirchGroup. The ACT is the Brussels-based body representing the interests of commercial broadcasters to the EU institutions on all relevant policy and legislative issues.
