RTL Group announces appointment of new CFO

Luxembourg, 22 June 2005 - RTL Group, the leading European broadcasting and production company, today announces the appointment of Dr Ignace Van Meenen as the new Chief Financial Officer and Head of Corporate Centre.  Dr Van Meenen will start on the 1 January 2006, taking over from Dr Thomas Rabe who is moving to Bertelsmann AG as CFO.

Dr. Van Meenen is 37 years old and currently works as the Group Financial Director at RAG AG in Essen, a role he has been in since 1999.  RAG AG is a German energy and chemicals Group with turnover of approximately EUR 22 billion.  He started his professional career with Deutsche Bank and spent two years in New York as Vice President in the Corporate and Institutional Banking Division before moving on to his current position. 

Dr. Van Meenen said “I have had the chance to work within a great company over the last six years and I am delighted to be moving on to another one.  I am looking forward to acquainting myself with my new colleagues, a new business and to moving to Luxembourg.”

Thomas Rabe said “I am delighted that Dr. Van Meenen is joining RTL Group.  His professional and personal skills are an ideal fit and I am sure he will make a very positive and valuable contribution to the further development of the Group.  I wish him all the very best in his new role.”
