CLT today signed an agreement with representatives of employees in Germany, Belgium, France, the Netherlands and Luxembourg, creating a European works council for the CLT Group. The agreement establishes a formal structure for cross-border discussions between management and employee representatives, before European Directive 94/45 CE comes into force.
In setting up this European works council, CLT will allow all employees of Group subsidiaries to receive information and express their views on issues and developments affecting employee interests in work-related areas.
As the agreement was signed, CLT management explained to employee representatives the reasons for the company's decision to suspend the Club RTL digital pay-TV project in Germany and the decision's initial impact. Company representatives noted that efforts were already under way to reassign personnel from units concerned to other positions within the CLT and Bertelsmann Groups. Appropriate accompanying measures are also being examined.
